The Bittersweet Goodbye: Moving On From a Family Home

This one’s close to my heart.

A few months ago, I helped a family sell their parents’ longtime home, the one with the same kitchen wallpaper from the ’80s and pencil marks on the doorframe showing how tall the kids grew. It wasn’t just a sale.

It was a lifetime of memories. We took time to honor that, even leaving the marks on the doorframe untouched. Real estate is never just about property lines and price points, it’s about people, emotions, and transition.

If you’re letting go of a home that’s full of history, know this: it’s okay to feel everything. That’s part of the story too.
